After the latest release of 1.05.b04 I received a few e-mails of users telling that certain options did not work as expected
So we checked the submitted issues and today we release 1.05.b05

I keep having issues with the CH3SNAS and Win 7 RC. GUI is not accessible, FTP disengages when it encounters large directory-listings with “no error”. Shares within the explorer-shell won’t connect / reconnect…. Only PuTTY Telnet access works fine atm.
Same pc (hardware) with XP SP3 install => no problem. Different pc’s & laptops with vista / XP / ubuntu / win2000 no problem either.

I keep having that my cfullhdmai is not seeing the movies from the ch3snas. Only in the version 105b1 is it working. Getting the message'”foutcode 301 ” in softwareversion 105b4 and 105b5 .
Normally i get the item with an arrow, then i can see the movie, otherwise in the item with 3 blocks i get the code 301.
Or doing something wrong??
After upgrading to 1.05.b05 WIndows 7 RC1 is asking for a driver for the nas. It can’t be found on Windows Update. Will a driver be released?
Normally you should be fine without a driver, perhaps a certain authentication mechanism is not activated on the CH3SNAS. There is also a problem with newer Versions of Ubuntu.
I cannot confirm any problem witn Windows 7 x64 RC. I’m using Win7RC since firmware release 1.05b3 and there was never any kind of problem. Actually, win7RC accesses the CH3SNAS faster compared to Vista, looks like MS finally optimized network layer efficiency!
Not asure what i did, but after a couple of reboots the CH3SNAS now shows in the Device Stage on W7 RC without the missing driver indicator.
The exclamation mark showed up in de device stage again, indicating a missing driver for the nas. Did some further investigation, and seems to be related to the upnp service. WIth the upnp service on the mark shows up, when i turn it off it’s gone after a reboot. SMB and web access are fine.

THANK YOU for this firmware update, it’s great, my XBOX 360 now lists the CH3SNAS with the built in UPNP. No more use for the odd setting is twonkyserver and such,

The missing driver is an PNP-X driver, which microsoft requires from Vista for Networked PNP devices. With this version the CH3SNAS requires this driver again ( a couple of firmwares ago, it already required this driver as well). I asked Conceptronic for this driver, but they didnt know, what this driver was for. So i downloaded the PNP-X Driver from D-Link, tweaked the Setup.inf file and installed it on my Vista box. The only difference i recognized was, that the CH3SNAS is now displayed as a storage device in the network neighborhood. I havent seen any other usage of it so far. But you can read the PNP-X documentation on the Microsoft website.
Oops… I was too fast with my comment, the upnp server is not working at all, I had accidently activated twonkyserver again. The Xbox 360 can’t find the CH3SNAS upnp…
The new firmware didn’t change that .

mp3 playback is very buggy with Twonky and DNS-323 (or CH3SNAS)

I can confirm that, to be more precise, problem SEEMS to arise ONLY if the single quote is in the FOLDER NAME:
Case 1 – this doesn’t work:

In first case you’ll get an “DLNA-Error 2114″ on your Playstation 3 if you want to stream from your CH3SNAS, other folders (without single quote in folder name) still work.
Workaround:
– remove single quote from folder name
– to to CH3SNAS Web-Configuration and refresh your UPNPAV-Server via refresh-button (a progress-window pops up, this could take a while …)
– in the meantime shut your PS3 down (if it was switched on), wait for refresh of UPNPAV-Server to finish then restart your PS3
– try to playback your video, it should work now!
//for testing purposes I had copied the folder from case1 (above) and removed the single quote, so I had both folder with exact same avi-file. One folder worked in DLNA PS3, the other threw back error-message (see above).

I never used funplug, so it can’t be that. Even flashed two times, set to factory defaults via webpage und one time via reset-button on back of device. Still, I have the problem I described in my previous post.

De ondertitels worden nu niet weer gegeven helaas.

Many days after loading this firmware Vista starts asking for the PNP-X driver, I´ll try the D-LINK driver workaround mentioned above.
My son´s XBOX360 does not “see” the ch3snas with this firmware (nor with previous versions).
The vent is doing overtime since loading this version.
How does the current state of Conceptronic in The Netherlands impact new firmware releases for our beloved nas?
Last friday we were able to test xbox360 ourselves and encountered similar issues as described here in the comments
we are fighting with the engineers telling it works where we tell them that it does not work out of the box
debugging seems hard but we have given them some tips.
I expect more info in the next 1 or 2 weeks
please note that through fun_plug there are alternatives like ushare or twonky to use for xbox360 in the meantime

i do not know how the PS3 is handling subs
but 99% of all upnp servers cannot offer the ability of external subs
when there is a DVD an embedded sub should just work fine

I just installed firmware 1.04rc5 back on the CH3SNAS whit the 1.05b05 i had a problem whit playing of my avi/divx file’s, they said not supported data.
Whit the 1.04rc5 everything is working great again.
I stil have troubles with my PS3 using this firmware
If I enter some folders it will give me repeatedly DNLA errors.
I have to reset the CH3SNAS to make it work again.
With the B4 version my nas works like a charm. I have connected a philips streamium and after a lot of hasle and updating it work only one thing is strange.
The CH3SNAS sends intself some filters like Genres, Artist etc. But in Genres i only have POP working ( not Dance, R&B, Rock etc.) althought all mp3 are found under “Other”
@Sebas Go to the advanced tab, select UPnP AV Server on the left and then hit the refresh button. Your Divx files will play again.
Seems that there is still something wrong with the routine that scans for new content.
Whenever I add a new file to my CH3SNAS it doesn’t show up on my PS3 until after I let the PS3 do a “search for media servers”. This has never worked with any firmware version. It’s not a PS3 problem because it does work correctly with TVersity, Twonky and PS3 Media Server.

after a firmwareupdate and doing a factory reset i were able to access the ch3snas from my WinXP PC without problems. But after adding a user by webinterface (with or without adding to a group) the CH3SNAS was not reachable from my PC. I did´nt even used the user for creating a share. The only share in the list is the default one (Volume_1, ALL, R/W). Even after deleting the User it was not reachable. I had to restart the NAS by webinterface.
Any ideas?

iTunes 9 komt met de ‘home sharing’ mogelijkheid (eindelijk). Echter heb ik al mijn mp3’s op de nas. Ik gebruik nu firefly -ivm betere playlistmogelijkheid- maar als het ‘home sharing’ ook in het servertje van de nas zou worden ondersteund zou ik die natuurlijk gebruiken.

Ik ga er niet van uit maar vraag het toch, gaat dit nog ondersteund worden ?

Of is er misschien een andere mogelijkheid om de playlists te controleren (en muziek te kopieren) via iTunes op mijn macbook of pc behalve de iTunes Media Folder location te veranderen naar de nas, dat werkt wel maar streamen werkt dan niet zo lekker.
Ik zou ook graag weten of er nog een firmware update uitkomt voor de CH3SNAS, er zitten toch nog wat bugs in waarvan ik hoop dat deze opgelost worden.
Het vervelendste vind ik het feit dat als ik de CH3SNAS inschakel deze niet wordt gezien door mijn andere apparatuur maar dat ik dan eerst weer de wizzard moet doorlopen, erg onhandig.
En aanlaten vind ik niet echt een optie.

Dat PC’s de NAS niet kunnen zien, zie ik alleen in 1.04b04 voorkomen en niet in versie b05.
daarnaast zou je een fixed ip in kunnen stellen en deze fixed ip in kunnen geven in je host file. Dan zien ze je apparaat ook.
ik kan geen uitspraken doen over firmware ontwikkelingen momenteel.
Maar jullie blijven toch wel bezig met de ch3snas hoop ik ?
Uiteindelijk heb ik de NAS weggedaan vanwege het het slechte werken van de UPnP mediaserver, hij kreeg het niet voor elkaar om de mappen goed door te sturen en te indexeren naar mijn streamium. Als NAS is hij perfect maar niet als mediastation.
Wel jammer is dat je na een firmware update steeds alles opnieuw moet instellen.
@Dennis, ik heb de b05 eropstaan en constateer toch dit probleem.
Situatie is als volgt, ik heb een NMT en die streamt vanaf de CH3SNAS films.
Als ik dus de CH3SNAS aanzet dan ziet de NMT hem niet en moet ik eerst de wizzard doorlopen van de CH3SNAS op een pc.
Als ik dus een film wil kijken moet ik eerst alles aanzetten, dan op een pc de wizzard doorlopen en pas dan ziet de NMT de CH3SNAS.
Omslachtig aangezien ik niet altijd een pc heb aanstaan natuurlijk.
Dat kan sneller weet ik uit ervaring, je gaat dan in de instelling naar het stuk waar “workgroup” staat. Je drukt op save en hij verschijnt weer in het netwerk
Thanks Redyak, maar feit is en blijft dat ik dan eerst een webbrowser moet openen om dat te doen, dus moet ik een pc hebben aanstaan.
Er zit gewoon een bug in de firmware en deze moeten ze gewoon eruit halen, simpel.
het feit dat je NMT de NAS niet kan vinden heeft waarschijnlijk met een MASTER BROWSER setting te maken die (stel dat de NAS dit is) pas geactiveerd wordt nadat hier een ‘oorlog’ op het netwerk over geweest is, pas wanneer de NAS opgenomen is in de Master Browser functie zal hij via ‘smbtree’ (linux command) zichtbaar zijn.
Kunnen andere PC’s in je netwerk het apparaat wel vinden?
Nogmaals: ik heb dit probleem gezien bij de b04 firmware maar met de b05 kan ik dit niet meer reproduceren vooralsnog en zonder dat kan iemand die ‘de bug’ moet oplossen ook weinig doen

En ik heb toch echt de b05 firmware erop staan.
Ik heb precies hetzelfde probleem met de zichtbaarheid van mijn NAS. Hij is wel via het ip adres bereikbaar, maar niet onder zijn naam. Ik gebruik ook de methode van Redyak om mijn NAS weer zichtbaar te maken.
Dit probleem is inderdaad geïntroduceerd in de b04 firmware, maar niet opgelost in b05. Verder werkt alles prima.
ga a.u.b. eens wat dingen vergelijken met elkaar wat jullie nog meer hebben draaien op het netwerk wat het overeenkomstig kan zijn, daar de ontwikkelaars dit probleem op geen manier hebben kunnen reproduceren.
mijn gedachte was:
device gaat aan, maar er kan totdat de workaround is doorlopen niet op de Hostname worden gepinged, wel op het ip adres ping -t ch3snas (als voorbeeld)
Zowel bij ontwikkelaars als bij mij op kantoor kan ik dit gedrag niet reproduceren, bij mij werkt het altijd .. (in dit geval, helaas. omdat ik iets wil reproduceren).
Voor windows systemen is een betere work-around om de hostfile aan te passen en te laten verwijzen naar het IP, nog beter is gewoonweg de NAS niet uit te zetten want de NAS is bedoeld om 24/7 aan te staan.
@Dennis, ten eerste bedankt voor je hulp en meedenken.
Het maakt denk ik verder weinig uit wat ik verder heb draaien in mijn netwerk.
De CH3SNAS is aangesloten op een router, net zoals de NMT.
Ze hebben beide een vast IP adres en hangen in dezelfde workgroup.
Indien ik de beide apparaten start dan ziet de NMT de CH3SNAS gewoonweg niet, ook al laat ik ze een uur of langer aanstaan. Doe ik echter de wizzard doorlopen van de CH3SNAS, dan verschijnt deze na de reboot meteen in de lijst van de te kiezen mediaservers in de NMT.
Ik ga eens stoeien met de host file van de NMT, kijken of ik daar wat mee kan.
Geen idee echter of dat ook zo werkt als in Windows maar goed, het proberen waard.
Ik kan de NAS zeker wel aan laten staan maar ik gebruik deze echter niet zo heel vaak en vind het dan ook zonde deze zomaar aan te laten.
En daarbij zou het gewoon moeten werken maar is deze bug ergens in een firmware naarbinnen geslopen en er niet uit gehaald.
Dat jullie dit niet kunnen reproduceren is vreemd, ik ben tenslotte niet de enige met dit probleem gezien de reacties van anderen.
