Mega innovatie om bevolkingskrimp tegen te gaan: maandelijkse vruchtbaarheidsboodschap op de mobiele telefoon. Big in Japan.
Alsof de overbevolking op deze vol=vol wereld niet al nijpend genoeg is. Maar in Japan loopt de bevolking terug en daar vrezen ze terecht voor vergrijzing en leegloop. In immigranten hebben ze natuurlijk geen zin, dus hanteert de overheid, in schril contrast tot buurland China, een actief babyproductiestuimuleringsbeleid.
ICT schiet daarbij nu te hulp. Ontwerpster Momoko Ikuta heeft een zachtroze gepunnikte mobiel ontworpen in de vorm van een embryo. Het is eigenlijk een soort übertamagotchi. Die moet het Japanse geboortecijfer moet gaan opkrikken.
Het is namelijk gelukt om er een ovulatie alarmsysteem in te bouwen. Ongelooflijk wat technologie allemaal niet vermag: Japanse vrouwen voeren in wanneer ze hun maanstonde hebben, en prompt komen twee weken later de babyproductie sms’jes binnen!
En dat is slechts het begin. Momenteel krijgen alle Japanse bruidsparen de babymaakmobiel cadeau bij hun huwelijksceremonie. De mobiel is hierdoor zo populair dat al gewerkt wordt aan een volgende generatie: de babyfoon. Deze heeft ingebouwde echoapparatuur, een database aan leuke babygeluidjes en honderden namen.
In China denkt het bewind erover om met dezelfde technologie juist de babyproductie af te remmen. Elke vruchtbare vrouw krijgt er verplicht een en rond de ovulatie stoot het apparaat een nare babypoepgeur en krijsend gehuil uit. En ook nog een extra dosis UMTS straling om onverhoopte conceptie in de kiem te smoren.
