Windows XP, UPnP & SSDP stuff

For more than 1 year I had issues with discovering UPnP devices in my network. Oh, they worked and could be found, only 1 system in the network was not able to discover any device. I searched Microsoft.com website, Google, Wikipedia and used several tools to solve the issue. Even the Intel UPnP tools were used to discover where the issue could be found.

after all kind of testings I only could analyze that the packages for UPnP / SSDP were sent but no reply from devices on the network. Wierd…

Today after too much hacking in the system, I decided to reinstall an image and check again. From scratch I had the same issue. WOW .. and than suddenly the solution was found.

My 2nd system (The notebook) was working wired and wireless on and off cause I use it now as a temp. machine. I discovered that when using the LAN-Cable the UPnP devices on the network were nowhere to be found anymore. When using Wireless: there they were. Damn, can it be possible? I took 1 direct cable from my wall mount (so the use of another switch was not necessary and: there were my devices again.

So after more than 1 day searching: the simple dump gigabit switch was blocking the incoming UPnP traffic .. pffff

ADSL firmware upgrade C54APRA2Plus

Just upgraded a beta (soon to be final) release of the C54APRA2plus firmware.

I encountered a bug where Traceroute was not functioning when PPPoA is used for the DSL connection. This has been fixed in my new firmware. Now this bug is fixed. Now testing the stability ;-)

Joeehoee Google-Adsense mensen

Leg me nu eens uit Google-Adsense mensen: mag DIT nu wel of NIET ? Blote tietjes is toch naakt en dat staat toch in de algemene voorwaarden dat dat niet mag? Of is dit redactorisch verantwoord en mag het wel? En waar ligt de grens?

De blote tietjes van Paris Hilton mogen in ieder geval niet weet ik uit ervaring ..

Johnny de mol

Vandaag zat ik in het vliegtuig met Johnny de mol .. en moet het toch even kwijt: wat kunnen die zogenaamde ‘bekende’ nederlanders er toch slecht uit zien: Meneer de mol met vieze vette haren, de lange wilde haren opgeknot tot een knotje achterop z’n hoofd. Een zonnebril waar u U tegen moet zeggen want het bedekte z’n gehele gezicht (hoezo ik wil niet gezien worden dus dan doe ik het maar zo? .. ) .. En dan dat trainingsbroekje .. Sjee.. zo’n umbro geval of zo .. Bah..

Barcelona

We zitten nu nog heerlijk in Barcelona. Gisteren na jaren weer eens met de Tram Via Blau naar Tibidabo. Ik was nooit zo’n fan van de bus turistic, maar het is wel een erg makkelijk en mooi middel om Barcelona te zien. Bovenstaande foto is een van de vele foto’s die we met onze nieuwe Canon 400D camera hebben gemaakt.

Het is hier trouwens super mooi weer +30 graden de gehele week al.

Erg kudt met die reaguurders

Nou die reaguurders van Geenstijl vinden dat Geenlijfstijl kledingmerk maar niets. 38 euro voor een shirtje .. Oeps.. daar gaat al het zakgeld van die tieners. Of het moeten die paar puberale 30 plussers zijn die het mooi vinden? Ik vind het maar vermakelijk met al die reacties en ben dan ook benieuwd, straks, naar het success van het kledingmerk. Je weet maar nooit. De T-shirts laten namelijk geen directe link met ‘Geenstijl‘ zien.
