Can somebody advise me what kind of PC is suitable enough to edit MTS files (1080i full HD 1920*1080 stuff) and what software tool is advised. All kinds of suggestions is appreciated including the $$ it is costing. Thanks!

A pc with an AMD3400+, 2Gb RAM and nVidia5200 is definitely not enough :-/
So I’m also interested in the question above.
Concerning the editing software, I use Ulead Movie Factory 6, simple and works quite ok. I also read a review in the new c’t magazine about Adobe Premiere CS4, a lot more expensive but also a lot more possibilities…
At home, to edit AVCHD videos from my new Panasonic HDC-TM300 (1200€ + or -), i use Sony Vegas 64bits in a HP XW4600 (1300€ + or -) (Intel Quad 2.83, 4GB RAM, NVidia Quadro NVS) and two EIZO 19″. It’s not perfect, but it’s OK for my Home videos.
for the same use i recently upgraded to a core2quad system, using pinnacle studio 12 and the patch 12.1 which defenitly improves the performance for use with full hd content.
